Jersey Photographers and Studios
Jersey Photographers
A list of known photographers and photographic studios active in Jersey from 1842 to the 1930s. Hopefully this list will be of use to local historians and those researching family photos.
The basis for this list is the excellent book by Richard Mayne and Joan Stevens ‘Jersey Through the Lens’ published 1975 by Phillimore and Co. Ltd. Chichester. I have considerably added to their listing by my own research. The research done by Mr Tony Moore of Jersey, in looking through the local newspaper almanacs to find dated adverts for the studios, has been invaluable and has added much information to the following listing.
The name of the photographer or studio is listed first, followed by known addresses (all St Helier unless otherwise stated) then underneath that the dates the studio was known to be active. Dates next to the persons name are their dates of birth and death. Where there are more detailed examinations of photo backstamps or serial numbers on separate pages of this website that is noted.
